Box Score

ELGIN, Ill. – No. 11 Roosevelt shot 50 percent from the floor and had six players finish in double figures as it cruised to a 90-71 win over Judson on Wednesday in a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference battle in Elgin.

The Lakers (23-3, 18-1 CCAC) took over the game with a 14-4 run over the final four minutes of the first half and never relented in the second. They scored the first seven points after halftime and the advantage grew to as many as 22 behind Roosevelt's signature combination of strong shooting and getting easy points from its defense. Roosevelt finished with 23 points off 16 takeaways to complement shooting 13 of 27 from behind the arc.

Forte Prater was feeling good early in the game, knocking down three of his four 3-point attempts in the first half to finish with 11 points in the opening 20 minutes. Julio Montes II chipped in nine first-half points and Shane Stevensen provided a spark with eight points off the bench in the opening half. Prater finished the day with 16 points, Montes finished the game with 10 and Stevensen had 12 in the contest.

Roosevelt's defense was particularly strong in the second half as it forced 11 turnovers and held Judson to just 11 of 30 from the field. On the offensive side, Maurice Commander scored nine points in the final 20 minutes to finish with 15 and Cody Mitchell added nine points and seven rebounds in the second half to end with 14 and 9, respectively. Kani Acree was the sixth player in double figures with 11 points evenly split between the halves.

Montes and Prater each also had six assists in the game to help the Lakers finish with 19 helpers, their most in nearly a month. Roosevelt also only committed five turnovers in the contest, the fifth time this year the Lakers have had five or fewer in a game and 16th time this season they have had less than 10 turnovers in a game.

The Lakers will finish the regular season Saturday afternoon at the Goodman Center for Senior Day against Indiana Northwest. Prior to the game, the team will honor Maurice Commander.
