Box Score CHICAGO – The Roosevelt University men's basketball team dropped its second consecutive CCAC Conference game, falling to Trinity International University by the score of 81-73 on Saturday, February 5 at the Goodman Center. The Lakers are now 10-7 in conference play and 15-9 overall this season.
The Lakers controlled the majority of the first half, building a 15-7 advantage after a Quin Riggins three-pointer and extending the lead to 10 points at 20-10 on an Ajiboye Ayomide jump shot with just under 10 minutes to go. The Trojans cut the margin to 20-15 over a minute later, but the Lakers pushed their lead back up to 28-19 only to have TIU make it a five-point game again at 28-23 with 2:47 remaining. Roosevelt got back-to-back threes from Ajiboye and Matt Myers to lead 34-24, but the Trojans made a late push to cut the score to 34-29 at the half.
The Lakers maintained the lead for the first nine minutes of the second half, but then the Trojans went ahead 52-51 and the two teams found themselves tied up at 55-55 with 8:46 to play. TIU then went on an 11-0 run to go up 66-55 with just over five minutes left to take control of the game, building a lead as large as 16 points. Roosevelt made a late push to cut the deficit to 78-69 with 27 seconds left on the clock, but the margin was too much to overcome and the Lakers lost the conference match-up 81-73.
