Box Score 2 LIVONIA, Mich. - Sophomore Matt Myers paced four Lakers in double figures with a career-high 15 points, but the Roosevelt men's basketball team was plagued by 22 turnovers against Lawrence Tech in an 83-67 loss to open the 2019-20 campaign at the Bernie Holowicki Classic presented by Hampton by Hilton - Detroit/Northville and hosted by Madonna (Mich.) on Friday evening.
Myers went 7-for-9 from the floor to lead the Lakers, while newcomer Sincere Ramsahai added 14 points and five boards.
Sophomore Quin Riggins had 12 points, and rookie Andrew Veon had 10 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Isaiah Cumberland led all players with 21 points for Lawrence Tech.
The Blue Devils scored 25 points off of the Lakers' 22 giveaways, neutralizing a strong shooting night for the Green and White.
"We looked like what we are tonight, a brand new team, and played typical of an inexperienced team with 22 turnovers and 23 fouls," Roosevelt head coach Joe Griffin said. "It doesn't get any easier against number nine tomorrow, but I expect us to play better."
The Lakers take on the host Crusaders, ranked ninth in the 2019-20 NAIA Division II Preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll, on Saturday to close out the classic.
