Men's Basketball's Nine-Game Win Streak Snapped At Olivet Nazarene

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Roosevelt men's basketball team's nine-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday, as host Olivet Nazarene pulled away in the second half to take a 71-52 decision at McHie Arena.

Adam Alexander led the Lakers (21-5, 12-4 CCAC) with 12 points, while Joshua Dillingham added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kyle Bumbalough also tallied 10 off the bench.

Nic Reed led all scorers with 32 points while pulling down 10 boards for the Tigers (12-13, 8-8 CCAC), who broke open a close game after one period of play with a second-half surge as Roosevelt struggled shooting after intermission. The Lakers connected on just eight of 29 shots during that timeframe.

Roosevelt turned the ball over 19 times, leading to 20 ONU points.

"Despite the final score, we did some good things on defense," Roosevelt head coach Joe Griffin said. "Offensively we were cold and Olivet really defended well all game. We limited Reed in the first half but he played like the All-American that he is in the second half. Josh and Adam were warriors and Kyle gave us an energetic boost off the bench.

"We finished 3-1 on this four-game road trip, so hopefully that accounts for a move up the rankings on Tuesday," Griffin said, as the Lakers were last spotted receiving the most Top 25 votes of any team outside of the rankings two weeks ago. "If we can win the next one, we'll be in a great spot."

Roosevelt hosts Saint Xavier at the Goodman Center this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The Lakers will seek to avenge their first loss of the year, which came at the hands of the Cougars.
