Men's Basketball Runs Win Streak To Seven With Road Victory At Indiana South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Jake Ludwig's game-high 20 points led five Lakers in double figures, and the Roosevelt men's basketball team kept its winning streak rolling at seven by defeating host Indiana South Bend in a high-scoring shootout by a final of 93-81 on Wednesday night.

Ludwig handed out seven assists to go with his 20 points, while Kyle Bumbalough tallied a season-high 16 points on a career-best four three-pointers off the bench for the Lakers (19-4, 10-3 CCAC).

Carson Hughes scored 14, making four treys of his own, while Joshua Dillingham added 12 points and three steals. Adam Alexander scored 10 while pulling down five rebounds.

Five players also scored in double figures for the Titans (10-13, 2-11 CCAC), led by 15 points apiece from Taylor Brooks and Norell Smith.

Roosevelt jumped out to a 14-2 lead and finished the first half shooting 67 percent (22-of-33) from the floor and 65 percent (11-of-17) from beyond the arc to go up 13 at the half.

Indiana South Bend had similar shooting percentages, with a 68 percent clip from the floor and 64 percent from three-point land, but the Titans had less volume in shots made and attempted compared to the Lakers.

The Lakers' shooting cooled after intermission, but the damage had been done and the Lakers were able to hold off the Titans' comeback attempt in the second half.

"This was a lot different than the Judson alumni day that was a defensive game," Roosevelt head coach Joe Griffin said. "Tonight both teams were hot and it looked like the Warriors versus the Thunder with threes all over the place. Our defense usually carrys us, but tonight our offense kept them at a distance. We changed some things at the half that helped us defend a little better in the second half, and Josh took a couple of big time charges.

"All nine guys made contributions and our inside-out game was very strong."

Roosevelt takes on St. Francis (Ill.) in Joliet this Saturday.
