PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – Jake Ludwig led all scorers with 20 points, and the Roosevelt men's basketball team held on for a 62-57 road win against Trinity Christian on Saturday.
Ludwig went 5-for-12 from the field and connected on nine of his 12 free throws, and Adam Alexander tallied 10 points for the Lakers (11-3, 4-3 CCAC).
Every Laker who appeared in Saturday's game scored at least three points, with six Roosevelt players at six points or more.
Juozas Balciunas led the Trolls (5-11, 1-6 CCAC) with 19 points.
Saturday featured a gritty defensive battle between two CCAC squads, and Roosevelt rallied back from a double-digit first-half deficit to even the score by intermission.
The Lakers were able to create distance in the early stages of the second half, and Roosevelt took an 11-point lead midway through the period.
Trinity Christian would not go away, getting within four on one of the Trolls' nine three-pointers with 17 seconds left, but Ludwig put the game out of reach at the charity stripe.
"Great win coming out of finals week, which are often peculiar games," Roosevelt head coach Joe Griffin said. "Our attention to detail was very good and after a slow start we took command of the game and never relinquished the lead. Lud was great with getting fouled and icing the game. Our bench gave us a great boost as well.
"It's great to win a game when we shot the three as poorly as we did [3-for-16], which is a credit to our defense."
Roosevelt heads to Siena Heights for non-conference play on Tuesday.
