Men's Basketball Takes Winning Streak On The Road Wednesday Night At IU Northwest

Chicago, Ill. - The Roosevelt men's basketball team looks to build on its three-game winning streak on Wednesday night as the Lakers travel across the border to square off with Indiana University Northwest at 7:00 p.m. at the Savannah Center. The showdown with the Redhawks marks the final game Roosevelt will play this season against a non-CCAC opponent with the Lakers jumping into league play on Saturday when they host St. Xavier at 8:00 p.m.
Roosevelt (5-8, 0-0) will wrap up a home-and-home season series with IU Northwest (2-13) on Wednesday. The Lakers won the first meeting 81-57 back on Nov. 29 at Attack Athletics. The Redhawks have not tasted victory since that game, dropping their last nine decisions.
Senior Paul Tometich paces the Roosevelt offensive attack, averaging 12.8 ppg. The 6-foot-2 guard is tallying 17.7 ppg while shooting 52 percent from the field in the Lakers' recent three-game winning streak. Junior Brandyn Denson continues to give Roosevelt a strong post presence, averaging a near double-double at 10.2 ppg and 9.3 rpg.
On Saturday, the Lakers will return home and look to extend their five-game winning streak at Attack Athletics when they host #25 Saint Xavier (12-4, 0-0). The Cougars just had their 11-game winning streak snapped at Northwood on Jan. 5. Roosevelt split its season series with Saint Xavier last year with each team winning at home. Paul Tometich averaged a robust 32.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in those two meetings.
