Men's Basketball Falls To #16 St. Ambrose

Davenport, Iowa - Just a week removed from their last meeting, the Roosevelt men's basketball team traveled to take on 16th-ranked St. Ambrose to conclude their home-and-home series. Unfortunately for the Lakers, the result on Sunday was the same as the first confrontation with the Fighting Bees earning a 92-68 victory at Lee Lohman Arena.

Junior Paul Tometich, the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference's top scorer and reigning Player of the Week, led Roosevelt with 22 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Twin brother Mark Tometich chipped in with 17 points while freshmen Kyle Miklasz and Curtis O'Dwyer added 12 and 10 points, respectively, in defeat.

Despite playing its fourth game in seven days, St. Ambrose's offense had plenty of life as the Bees shot 58.5 percent from the field, including a staggering 77 percent clip on shots inside the three-point arc. Mike Kennedy scored a game-high 23 points to pace St. Ambrose.

The Bees jumped out early on the Lakers, as Kennedy scored six points in a 13-3 run to start the game. Roosevelt trailed by just a 36-31 margin with 2:01 left in the opening half, but St. Ambrose scored the final six points of the opening period and then started the second stanza with a 14-2 surge to build its advantage to 56-33 at the 15:10 mark.

Roosevelt will look to snap its six-game losing streak when it travels across town to take on Moody Bible on Thursday, Jan. 13, at 7:00 p.m.
