BAY CITY, Mich. – Roosevelt freshman goalkeeper Cedrik Strupler was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

The Switzerland native changed the momentum in Roosevelt's first match of the week, stopping a penalty kick less than 15 minutes into the match against Missouri St. Louis. Strupler finished with two saves in the 2-0 win for his second clean sheet of the season.

Strupler followed up Saturday with seven saves in a 1-1 tie with Lake Erie on the road. He made six stops in the first half to help the Lakers stymie the Strom's attack.

"We've been really happy with Cedrik since he arrived," Roosevelt coach Paddy Hoepp said. "He has been a great addition to the program. His composure elevates our team and him showing up in big moments like this week against UMSL shows what he brings."

The Lakers are off this week but return to action on Sept. 17 against Parkside at home to kick off GLIAC play.
