BAY CITY, Mich. – Kaylee Sarnicola backstopped Roosevelt to a four-point week to earn Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The freshman goalkeeper made six saves in a 2-1 win over Northern Michigan on Friday before turning in a career performance Sunday. Sarnicola made 17 saves in the 1-1 draw with Michigan Tech, the most saves by a Roosevelt keeper in nearly a decade. The only goal she allowed against the Huskies was an own goal, meaning she stopped all 17 shots on target in the match.

"Kaylee has had a strong start to her collegiate career and she is playing with more confidence every day," Lakers head coach Tom Czop said. "She is well deserving of this recognition as she had two exceptional performances this past weekend to help us to an important four point weekend in GLIAC play."

Sarnicola has started all eight matches this season for the Lakers and has saved 60 shots for a .770 save percentage. Roosevelt returns to action Friday at noon at Morris Field against Purdue Northwest.
