INDIANAPOLIS – Roosevelt freshman Simone Mondin and senior Mark Zmojdzin both earned player of the week honors from the Great Lakes Valley Conference on Monday.

Zmojdzin was named the Offensive Player of the Week after averaging more than five kills per set in Roosevelt's two wins against Southwest Baptist. The Prospect Heights, Ill. native tied the program record with 24 kills in Friday's four-set win over the Bearcats then added a team-best 12 more in Saturday's sweep. In the two matches, Zmojdzin hit .386 and served up four aces while also contributing eight digs and three blocks.

Mondin was awarded Defensive Player of the Week after being all over the floor for the Lakers in the two road matches. He had 17 digs in Friday's win then added 10 more Saturday to finish with nearly four digs per set. The Italian was also perfect in serve-receive with a team-best 36 receptions and dished out five assists in each of the two matches.

"We are excited for both Mark and Simone on the acknowledgment of their weekend performances," Roosevelt head coach Kelly Magliano said. "Both of them have been working extremely hard in the gym, and want the best for our team as whole. Their hard work has been helping us win, and I'm happy they received individual recognition for doing so."

It is the second and third honors for the Lakers this season after Jonathan Stovring was named Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 17. It is also the first career weekly honors for both Mondin and Zmojdzin.

The Lakers return home Friday and Saturday for matches against Thomas More in another GLVC weekend series. First serve Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m. while Saturday's match starts at 2 p.m. Roosevelt currently sits tied for third place in the GLVC with a 3-1 mark in conference play and are 11-5 overall.
