CHICAGO – Here's a look at the week ahead in Roosevelt Athletics.
Women's Basketball
The Roosevelt women's basketball team will be back at the Goodman Center Thursday to take on Parkside on Thursday. The Lakers (5-14, 4-8 GLIAC) and Rangers (11-9, 6-6 GLIAC) will tip off at 5:30 p.m., with Parkside looking for revenge after Marie Outlay hit a buzzer-beater to take the first matchup by a score of 69-68 on New Year's Day. The Lakers will then have a rare Saturday off before returning to downtown Chicago on Monday evening to face Ferris State (17-4, 10-2 GLIAC) at 5:30 p.m. trying to avenge the 78-60 loss earlier this year in Michigan.
Men's Basketball
The Roosevelt men's basketball team is also back home this week to face Parkside and Ferris State with both games at 7:30 p.m. at the Goodman Center. The Lakers (2-17, 1-11 GLIAC) will be looking for revenge against the Rangers (9-11, 3-9 GLIAC) after Parkside squeaked out a 77-74 in a fiercely contested game earlier this year. The Bulldogs (9-10, 6-6 GLIAC) defeated the Lakers 82-68 in the first matchup between the squads this season.
Men's Volleyball
The Roosevelt men's volleyball team remains at home Friday after sweeping a pair of matches against Barton to remain perfect at the Goodman Cetner this season. The Lakers (4-3) play host to Defiance (1-1) at 4:00 p.m. Friday before making the short trek next Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. to face second-ranked Saint Xavier.Â
Hockey
The Roosevelt hockey team (7-19-0) will battle against Calvin (15-5-2) twice this week for a home-and-home set with the Knights. The first matchup is set for Friday at 6:30 p.m. in Grand Rapids, Mich. before the teams face off Saturday at 7:00 p.m. inside The Edge Ice Arena.
Tennis
The men's tennis (1-2) team is in action for the first time since October 30th, as they prepare to head to DeKalb to take on Northern Illinois on Saturday. The women's team (4-0) will join them in DeKalb as they look to stay undefeated this season.
Track and Field
The men's and women's track teams will look to carry over the momentum from the Aurora Grand Prix on January 24th as they head to Bourbonnais on Friday for the Walter Cramer Invite hosted by Olivet Nazarene.
