CHICAGO – Here's a look at the week ahead in Roosevelt Athletics.
Women's Basketball
The Roosevelt women's basketball team hits the road again this week with two GLIAC games on the horizon. On Thursday, the Lakers (4-13, 3-7 GLIAC) will take on Lake Superior State (5-13, 2-8 GLIAC) at 4:30 p.m. Lake Superior State took the first matchup at the Goodman Center by a score of 57-52, with senior Grace Bradford racking up 16 points, 12 rebounds, and five steals. On Saturday, Roosevelt will stay in Michigan to battle Saginaw Valley State (4-13, 2-7 GLIAC) at noon. The Lakers took the first matchup at home 64-52, with Roosevelt's entire starting five scoring at least nine points.
Men's Basketball
The Roosevelt men's basketball team will be looking to bounce back this week, starting with a matchup against Lake Superior State on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Roosevelt (2-15, 1-9 GLIAC) held Lake Superior State (9-10, 3-7 GLIAC) to a season-low 59 points in the first matchup, but was unable to turn the stout defensive effort into a win. On Saturday, Roosevelt will travel to face Saginaw Valley State (9-8, 3-6 GLIAC). The Cardinals took the first matchup by a score of 93-68, but have since dropped the last four games.
Men's Volleyball
The Roosevelt men's volleyball team is back at the Goodman Center this week after a trip to New York for matchups with Manhattan and Farleigh Dickinson. The Lakers (2-3) will have two games against Barton (1-1) this week, with a 6:00 p.m. start on Thursday and a 3:00 p.m. start on Saturday.Â
Hockey
The Roosevelt hockey team (7-18-0) will face Davenport (15-15-2) twice this week, starting Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Caledonia, Mich. before coming home to The Edge Ice Arena on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
Softball
The Roosevelt softball team will open up the 2026 season this week with a Friday doubleheader against the University of Illinois Springfield in Rosemont. The Lakers compiled a 17-31 record last season, and the games against UIS will be the first time the two programs have met on the softball field.
Women's Tennis
The women's tennis team (4-0) is back in action this week for the first time since October, as they head down the road to take on the University of Chicago on Sunday.Â
