CHICAGO – The Roosevelt cheer and dance teams are hosting a showcase Sunday at 2 p.m. for its national-championship-winning programs at the Goodman Center.
The Lakers will welcome cheer and dance teams from across the Chicagoland area as a preview for the teams' trips to Daytona Beach, Fla. next month for the NCA and NDA Championships. Among the schools coming to showcase their routines are DePaul, Illinois State, Northern Illinois and UIC.
Roosevelt cheer is the three-time defending champion at the NAIA Intermediate Coed Level, but will be taking the step up to Division II this year. The dance program won a national title in hip hop last year and will be bringing their team and hip hop performances to the Division II level this year.

Golf
After having last week off, the Roosevelt golf team is in action on Monday in Tuesday, as they head to Decatur, Illinois, to participate in the Dan Salisbury Memorial Invitational. Freshman Lucas Faubert will look to build on a sixth place finish at the SVSU Spring Intercollegiate Invitational, where he shot 4-over and helped the Lakers finish in 10th place.
Baseball
The Lakers baseball team will open the week with a standalone game at Lewis (8-16, 3-5 GLVC) on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. Roosevelt (7-15, 0-4 GLIAC) will then head to Lebanon, Ill. for a four-game set with McKendree (10-16, 4-8 GLVC). The two teams will first play Friday at 2:00 p.m. before kicking off a Saturday doubleheader at noon. The Lakers and Bearcats will then wrap up the series on Sunday at noon.
Track and Field
The men's and women's track and field programs return to action for the first time in nearly a month, as they head to Naperville to open the spring season and compete in the First Chance Meet on Friday and Saturday hosted by North Central.
Volleyball
After sweeping Thomas More, the Roosevelt men's volleyball team (13-5, 5-1 GLVC) rides a five game win streak into a pair of matchups at Quincy (7-8, 4-2 GLVC) this weekend. The Lakers and Hawks will first match up on Friday at 6:00 p.m. before finishing the weekend series on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
Tennis
The Roosevelt men's (5-10, 0-2 GLIAC) and women's (7-8, 0-2 GLIAC) tennis teams return to the court this Saturday as they host the Michigan Tech Huskies at XS Tennis in the home finale for both programs.
Softball
After opening conference play with a split this past Saturday, the Lakers softball team (7-15, 1-1 GLIAC) will hit the road for a pair of conference doubleheaders. On Saturday, Roosevelt will take on Saginaw Valley State (12-8, 2-0 GLIAC) in University Center, Mich. for a doubleheader starting at noon. The Lakers will then head to Detroit to battle with Wayne State (8-13, 0-4 GLIAC) in a twinbill on Sunday beginning at 11:00 a.m.
