CHICAGO – Here's a look at the week ahead in Roosevelt Athletics.
Baseball
After picking up its first conference wins of the season, the Roosevelt baseball team (11-33, 2-18 GLIAC) looks to carry momentum into the final week of the season. The Lakers will first deviate into non-conference action to take on the University of Illinois at 6:00 p.m. in Champaign to fill a void on the Fighting Illini's schedule. Roosevelt then gears up for the final series of the season as the Lakers host Saginaw Valley State (23-22, 9-11 GLIAC). The two teams will play a doubleheader Friday at Ozinga Field starting at 4:30 p.m. The season concludes with another doubleheader Saturday, this one starting at noon at Saint Xavier due to a scheduling conflict in Crestwood.
Softball
The Roosevelt softball team (10-34, 4-20 GLIAC) wraps up its season this week with a home-and-home series against Parkside (21-27, 10-14 GLIAC). On Wednesday, the Lakers host the Rangers for a midweek doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m. Roosevelt will make the return trip to Kenosha on Saturday to conclude the 2026 campaign with a doubleheader starting at noon.
Track and Field
A massive week awaits the Lakers' track and field programs as they head to Grand Valley State's campus in Allendale, Mich. for the GLIAC Championships. The competition begins on Wednesday and concludes on Friday with the Lakers looking to end the season on a high note after breaking numerous records over the past few weeks in the preparation meets for the conference championships.
