Surging Lakers Climb Leaderboard In Final Round

WHEATON, Ill. – Roosevelt surged up the leaderboard Tuesday to finish eighth at the Flyers Spring Invitational hosted by Lewis at Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton.

Monday's first round was a tough day on the course for the Lakers, who finished the day with just one player carding a sub-80 round. Roosevelt found itself in 12th place out of 13 teams after the first 18 holes with Thomas Peluchon being the lone bright spot. However, Roosevelt tied for the second best round on Tuesday with three players shooting 75 or better on the day.

Peluchon was the most consistent for the Lakers with back-to-back 75s to finish in 10th place. The sophomore from France was in the top-10 after the opening day with a round highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 seventh. He added a second eagle in Tuesday's round with a 3 on the par-5 14th, accounting for two of the five eagles across the entire event.

Marc Waller nearly caught Peluchon in the second round after rebounding from an opening-round 81 to shoot a 70 on Tuesday. The sophomore had an up-and-down Monday with two birdies cancelled out by two holes of double-bogey or worse while carding just eight pars. He was far more in control Tuesday with four birdies and just two bogeys en route to his 2-under score, the best of the day and tied for the best round of the event.

After Waller's tie for 11th at 7-over was Pierre Heylen in 25th place after he shot a 1-over 73 in Tuesday's final round. He was on pace to join Waller in the red on Tuesday until a tough eighth hole put him barely in the black for the day.

Only one team in the entire event had more birdies or better than Roosevelt's 20 birdies and two eagles. Four of the five Lakers to compete in the event had at least four birdies across the 36 holes, led by six from Waller, the second most for an individual in the event.
