Lakers Open Spring At Saddlebook Invite

TAMPA, Fla. – Roosevelt began its spring season with a fifth-place finish at the Saddlebrook Invitational on Thursday at the Saddlebrook Resort in Tampa, Fla.

The Lakers got off to a hot start Tuesday by shooting 22-over par to be just four strokes off the lead in second place after the opening round. Matthew Webb was in a tie for third after the first 18 holes after carding a 74 with a pair of birdies. Thomas Peluchon was right behind him with a 75 that featured three birdies of his own.

Webb continued his stellar play in the second round with another 74, this time sinking three birdies to keep himself in third place. However, Roosevelt fell to fourth place as a team after Wednesday's round with no other golfer breaking 10-over par.

Justin Rodriguez had a bright spot in the third round Thursday with an eagle on the par-5 14th hole as he led Roosevelt with an 80 on the day. That propelled the freshman into 19th place, a few spots behind Peluchon, who finished 15th place by shooting 25-over for the tournament. Webb fell to 18th place after a rough final round while Marc Waller finished in 24th and Pierre Heylen was in 28th.
