Carisma Rosales Named USC All-Region Selection

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Carisma Rosales added another accolade to her resume Tuesday after being named an All-Midwest Region honoree by United Soccer Coaches.

The sophomore from Berwyn, Ill. was named to the third-team all-region team at forward, making Roosevelt one of four schools from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to have a representative on the all-region team. Rosales was a first-team all-GLIAC selection this season after scoring six goals and adding four assists to finish tied for fourth in the league in both goals scored and points.

Rosales was always a danger with the ball at her feet, dazzling fans and opponents with her individual skill on the ball. The Lakers scored more than three times as many goals this season largely due to Rosales' playmaking abilities and the attention she drew from the opposition. She netted a pair of game-winning goals this season, tallying with less than six minutes left to defeat Davenport on the road then scoring both goals in a win over Michigan Tech that secured the postseason for Roosevelt.

"Carisma had an outstanding season and proved to be one of the top offensive players day in and day out in an always tough GLIAC," Roosevelt head coach Tom Czop said. "Our offensive production improved drastically this season from last year and she is a major reason why, creating scoring opportunities on her own with both her one-on-one and playmaking abilities, while drawing attention from our opponents to allow her teammates to step up when the opportunity arose.  She is a goal scoring threat at all times, but her defensive work is often overlooked, and our success this season from last year would not have happened without her."
