Rosales, Seuberling Earn All-GLIAC Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. – For only the third time in program history, Roosevelt women's soccer has a first-team all-conference honoree.

Carisma Rosales was named to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team Thursday to earn the first first-team honor for the Lakers in four years. Cheech Seuberling was also named an honorable mention honoree for her two years as a leader on the defense for Roosevelt.

Rosales took the GLIAC by storm this season with six goals and four assists to finish tied for fourth in the league in both goals scored and points. The Berwyn, Ill. native was a major reason the Lakers were able to triple their goal scoring from a year ago with 25 goals this season. She netted a pair of game-winning goals this season, tallying with less than six minutes left to defeat Davenport on the road then scoring both goals in a win over Michigan Tech that secured the postseason for Roosevelt.

"Carisma had an outstanding season and proved to be one of the top offensive players day in and day out in an always tough GLIAC," Roosevelt head coach Tom Czop said. "Our offensive production improved drastically this season from last year and she is a major reason why, creating scoring opportunities on her own with both her one-on-one and playmaking abilities, while drawing attention from our opponents to allow her teammates to step up when the opportunity arose.  She is a goal scoring threat at all times, but her defensive work is often overlooked, and our success this season from last year would not have happened without her."

Seuberling has anchored the back line for the Lakers the past two seasons, having started all 35 matches Roosevelt has played since arriving on campus. This season, she played the full 90 minutes 14 times and managed to keep a clean disciplinary record with no cards in her nearly 1,600 minutes on the field.

Her leadership helped Roosevelt improve its defense by nearly half a goal per game and allow more than four fewer shots per game. She helped the Lakers keep three shutouts during conference play and five clean sheets total during her career, stewarding a pair of freshman goalies through the first half of the season.

"It has been a privilege to coach Cheech for the past two seasons, and this GLIAC honor is well deserved," Czop said. "Obviously, this award recognizes her for her outstanding performance on the field, but her experience, leadership, and attitude are immeasurable to the growth and development of our program at the NCAA Division II level.  I cannot thank her enough for her commitment and dedication to our program during her time as a Laker in the past two years."
