LOCKPORT, IL – The Roosevelt men's tennis team dropped a tightly contested match on the road against CCAC foe, the University of St. Francis Fighting Saints in Lockport, Illinois.

While the Lakers were unable to tally any wins, they played several close matches, led off by the No. 1 doubles pairing of Juan Pablo Espinosa and Conor Pacelli. The Roosevelt duo were tied 3-3 with the top Saints pairing when doubles play concluded. At No. 2 doubles Justin Magale and Sebastien Valdenaire were not enough for St. Francis, falling 6-3.

In singles play, the Lakers got a strong showing from Jorge Gutierrez who led two sets at No. 4 singles, winning the first set 6-3 and leading the second 5-4. At No. 2 singles, Juan Pablo Espinosa got off to a strong start, winning the first set 6-3, before dropping the second set 2-6.

Justin Magale lost his match at No. 1 singles to the Saints top competitor, 4-6, 4-6. At No. 3 singles, Conor Pacelli showed grit after dropping the first set 2-6 he narrowly dropped the second set 5-7. Sebastien Valdenaire faced a similar fate at No. 5 singles, dropping his match 2-6, 5-7.

The Lakers return to the court at XS Tennis on Monday, April 10 with another CCAC match against Holy Cross College at 8:00 a.m.
