Box Score ELGIN, Ill. – The Roosevelt University women's volleyball team opened up CCAC Conference play with a straight set loss to Judson University on Tuesday, September 6. The loss dropped the Lakers' overall record to 0-10 this season.
Judson raced out to a 4-0 lead to begin the first set, but the Lakers scored the next three points to pull within 4-3. However, the Eagles went on another run, scoring the next six points and winning the opening set 25-20.
The Lakers took an early lead in the second set behind two kills each from Jessa Henry and Viktoria Marysheva to lead 4-2. Judson then answered with an 8-1 run to lead 10-5, but RU rallied to cut the deficit to 11-9 before the home team once again took control, winning 25-17 to take a 2-0 match lead.
Roosevelt jumped out to a 7-3 advantage to open the third set with Jessa Henry registering three points behind an ace and two kills, while Logan Cofield came through with two kills. The Lakers maintained the lead until late in the set when the Eagles tied things up at 18-18 and grabbed the momentum to win 25-22.
