Box Score CHICAGO – The Roosevelt University women's volleyball team won the opening set of its 2022 home opener versus St. Ambrose University (Iowa), but lost the next three sets of the CCAC Conference match on Tuesday, September 13 at the Goodman Center. The loss dropped the Lakers' conference record to 0-3 and their overall record to 0-12 on the year.
The Lakers controlled the first set from the opening serve and led by as many as seven points on several occasions before winning 25-19. RU was paced by a balanced attack in the stanza with Jessa Henry tallying four kills and a service ace, while Logan Cofield and Emily DeBlecourt each had three kills.
St. Ambrose built a 7-4 advantage early in the second set, but Roosevelt evened things up at 12-12 before taking a 17-14 lead. However, the Fighting Bees rallied and the two teams were tied at 20-20 when the visitors scored five of the next six points to win 25-21 and even the match.
The third set began similarly to the second with the Fighting Bees taking the lead early on, but this time the guests pulled away as the set continued, winning 25-17 to take a set lead in the contest. St. Ambrose followed up by leading the fourth set from beginning to end, winning the fourth set 25-22 after fighting off a late Lakers' push that cut the deficit to 24-22.
