Box Score GARY, Ind. – The Roosevelt University women's volleyball team continued its four-match CCAC road trip on Thursday, October 20. The Lakers traveled across state lines to Gary, Indiana to take to the Indiana University Northwest RedHawks, looking to win their second straight after defeating CCAC foe Trinity Christian on Tuesday evening.
The contest was a match of swings as each team fought to keep momentum on their side throughout. Set one saw Roosevelt get out to an early 4-0 lead before IUNW rallied for seven points. They would hold that lead for the remainder of the set, winning 25-11.
The Lakers would swing the momentum back in their favor taking the next two sets 25-16 and 26-24. They would continue their sold play into the fourth set, going up 5-1 early and maintaining the advantage until the RedHawks tied things up at 16 each. While Roosevelt would take back the lead at 21-19, IUNW was able to conjure up another run to win 25-21 and force a fifth and final set.
The final set was a seesaw on the scoreboard as the teams alternated points throughout. With the Lakers in striking distance of the win and the score 11-12, the RedHawks were able to pull away for a 15-12 final set victory.
