Box Score PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Roosevelt University women's volleyball start it's four match CCAC homestand with a bang on Tuesday, October 18, when the team traveled to Palos Heights, Illinois to take on the Trinity Christian Trolls. The Lakers we able to rebound from a tough loss in in their previous contest to defeat Trinity Christian in a three-set sweep.
Roosevelt was able to control the match from the opening serve, scoring the first three points of the match. The Lakers grew the advantage to 10-4 with the help of three kills apiece from Jessa Henry and Viktoria Marysheva. Emily DeBlecourt, Brooke Williams, and Logan Cofield would also add kills and Catarina Calabrese and Henry would each contribute an ace as the Lakers would roll to a 25-18 victory in the first.
The second set would be more of the same, as RU was able to gain an early edge on the scoreboard and maintain it throughout the set. Marysheva provided another two kills as she was on her way to a match high 15 kills on the evening. Williams added three kills in the set, including set point as the Lakers won the second set 25-19.
The final set of the evening saw Roosevelt fall behind 1-5, but a Henry kill sparked a rally. While the Lakers were able to pull within two points at 8-10, they would not fully catch up to the Trolls until a Marysheva kill tied the set at 21 all. The Lakers would pull away from there, with Alyssa Stilley providing the match clinching kill, as Roosevelt won 25-23.
