Box Score ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Roosevelt University women's soccer earned its first CCAC Conference victory of the season behind an offensive explosion, scoring a program record nine goals in defeating Calumet College of St. Joseph by the score of 9-0 on Saturday, September 18 at Morris Field. The victory raises the Lakers overall record to 4-3 and evens their conference record at 1-1.
The Lakers wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Marbella Rodriguez scored on a breakaway three minutes into the game on an assist from Sam Sparks. Rodriguez would add a second goal, her fourth of the season, on another breakaway in the 33rd minute after Meaghan Smith and Ashley Capetillo found the back of the net in the 17th and 27th minutes respectively. Capetillo then picked up an assist on a goal by Tabea Maiberger, her first collegiate goal, in the 39th minute for a 5-0 half-time lead.
The second half was also all Lakers with Alexis Gonzalez getting things started just a minute in and Gabi Christidis netting goals in the in the 54th and 57th minutes for her team leading fourth and fifth goals of the season. Paola Macias capped off the scoring with her first collegiate goal off another Sparks assist in the 58th minute.
