ARLINGTON HEIGHTS – Bella Perry's opening tally was quickly answered as Roosevelt and Jamestown played to a 1-1 draw on Senior Day at Morris Field on Sunday.
The Lakers held a significant 17-8 edge in shot attempts over the 90 minutes, but it wasn't until the 69th minute when Perry broke through.
Ella De Sousa's pass was deflected into the path of Dayami Arias, but the freshman couldn't get another touch on it before the Jamestown goalie was able to push it away. However, the subsequent clearing attempt was intercepted by Perry, who dribbled up the left side of the penalty area. She cut back to give herself some room then sent a shot towards the Jimmies goal, which was bobbled by the keeper into the net.
Roosevelt (0-0-2) had several chances to make it 2-0 in the 75th minute with Aaliyah Xiomara Leanos and De Sousa both having their shots blocked. De Sousa then sent a second shot past the defense, but it rang off the post and Jamestown was able to clear. A minute later, the Jimmies tied the game on a shot from 7 yards out.
The Lakers had one last hope in the final minute when Arias barreled in on goal from the left side, but the Jamestown keeper was able to kick out her foot at the last second to redirect the shot.
