Women's Volleyball Defeated by St. Francis in CCAC Conference Match

JOLIET, Ill. – The Roosevelt University women's volleyball team dropped a CCAC Conference match to the University of St. Francis in straight sets on Saturday, October 30 at the Sullivan Center in Joliet, Ill.  The Lakers are now 0-16 in the CCAC and 3-24 overall this season.

The Lakers took a 3-1 lead to start the first set, but the Fighting Saints answered back and built a 15-11 advantage.  Roosevelt fought back and tied things up at 18-18 and then again at 23-23 late in the stanza.  However, St. Francis scored the set's final two points to win 25-23 and take a 1-0 match lead.

In the second set, the Lakers took an early lead once again, this time leading 4-2 behind two kills by Viktoria Marysheva and a kill from Kara Sleeper.  The Fighting Saints came right back with six straight points to erase the RU lead and go ahead 8-4.  St. Francis continued the momentum in the rest of the set, winning 25-18 to lead 2-0 in the match.

The Fighting Saints went ahead 4-1 to open the third set, but the Lakers got a kill and a service ace from Kara Sleeper to make it a 4-3 score.  However, the Fighting Saints rallied for four straight points to take control of the set and went on to win 25-17 to take the match in three sets.
