Box Score LAKEVILLE, Ind. – The Roosevelt University women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a convincing 10-0 CCAC Conference victory over Indiana University South Bend on Saturday, October 30 at Newton Park in Lakeville, Ind. The win was a program record fifth straight, raising the Lakers overall record to 11-6-1 and giving them a final conference record of 8-4-1 on the year.
The Lakers wasted little time getting on the board with Sam Sparks one touching a cross from Alexis Gonzalez inside the far post for a goal in the eighth minute. Nine minutes later, Lola Arreola scored off a Paola Macias assist for a 2-0 lead, and less than two minutes later, Anahi Cerda calmly slotted a shot into the corner to put the Lakers up 3-0. In the 41st minute, Leslie Ocampo finished a cross from Sam Sparks with Marubeni Nieto also earning an assist to give Roosevelt a 4-0 half-time lead.
Roosevelt continued its dominance in the second half, adding six more goals in the 45-minute period. Alexis Gonzalez scored off a 25-yard shot in the 50th minute and Gabi Christidis made it 6-0 in the 57th minute on another unassisted goal. In the 69th minute, Christidis earned an assist on a Sam Sparks' goal, her second of the game, and RU's leading scorer Meaghan Smith got into the action in the 77th minute, scoring off a Paolo Macias pass to put the Lakers up 8-0. Macias then scored an unassisted goal in the 80th minute and Julia Szylke capped off the scoring with an unassisted goal of her own in the 82nd minute.
