Women's Volleyball Falls to Trinity Christian in CCAC Conference Action

CHICAGO – The Roosevelt University women's volleyball team lost to Trinity Christian College in straight sets on Tuesday, October 19 in a CCAC Conference match at the Goodman Center.  The loss drops the Lakers conference record to 0-12 and their overall record to 3-20 for the season.

The Lakers took a 3-1 lead early in the opening set, but then fell behind the Trolls and trailed 7-6 before the visitors went on an 8-0 run to take control of the set and lead 14-6.  Roosevelt was unable to overcome the deficit and dropped the first set 25-14.

Trinity Christian carried the momentum into the second set, opening a 7-2 margin.  However, Roosevelt cut the lead down to three points on several occasions, but the Trolls once again put together a big run, scoring nine consecutive points to lead 21-9 and win the set 25-14 to take a 2-0 match lead.

The Trolls jumped out to a 3-0 lead to begin the third set, but the Lakers came back to pull within a point at 3-2 and 4-3.  Trinity Christian one again pulled away from the Lakers with yet another big run, this time scoring seven straight points to lead 14-4 and went on to win 25-11 to sweep the conference match.

The Lakers continue their home stand on Thursday, October 21 when they welcome Indiana University Northwest to the Goodman Center in Chicago.  The match will begin at 7pm and will be the Lakers "Dig Pink" match to support breast cancer awareness.
