Women's Basketball Falls At Olivet Nazarene

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Four Lakers contributed double-figure scoring, but the Roosevelt women's basketball team was unable to complete a season sweep of Olivet Nazarene as the Tigers won 109-88 decision at McHie Arena on Saturday.

Jasmine Albert scored a team-high 20 points while Nadia Thorman-McKey had 18 points, Lindzy Cox had 17 and Becca Bergman had a double-double of 14 points and 12 assists to go with four three-pointers for the Lakers (14-11, 7-8 CCAC).

Sammy Stejskal led all scorers with 26 points to pace five in double digits for the Tigers (14-10, 10-5 CCAC).

Olivet broke open a close game in the second quarter with a 15-0 run and capitalized on 27 Roosevelt turnovers to score 39 points off such miscues.

The Lakers couldn't dig out of the early hole, as the frenetic ONU style hindered RU's comeback try in the second half.

"We had a slow start this game and our second quarter really hurt us," Roosevelt head coach Keisha Newell said. "We have a quick turnaround with St. Ambrose coming to our place, so we must have a great practice tomorrow and be ready to go Monday."

Roosevelt has a quick turnaround with a home game against St. Ambrose at the Goodman Center on Monday, Feb. 4 at 5:30 p.m.
