MARQUETTE, Mich. – A shorthanded Roosevelt squad fell 89-58 to No. 22 Northern Michigan on Thursday night in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup in the Upper Peninsula.
Down to just nine healthy bodies, the Lakers (8-18, 7-12 GLIAC) struggled in the first half to keep pace with the Wildcats. Roosevelt put forth its best quarter of the night right after halftime, winning the third period 23-10 while holding Northern Michigan below 25 percent shooting over the 10-minute span.
Isabella Pitta led the Lakers with 15 points while Brynne Katcher added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Aubrey Leonard scored 13 points off the bench by making 4 of 5 from behind the arc as the third Roosevelt player in double figures. Kelly Boyle and Isabel Lindo each scored eight points as well for the Lakers.
UP NEXT: Roosevelt heads to Houghton, Mich. for the regular season finale on Saturday at noon against Michigan Tech. The Lakers are locked into the No. 7 seed for the conference tournament and will play either Ferris State or Wayne State in the opening round next Wednesday on the road.
