HOUGHTON, Mich. – Roosevelt never recovered from a slow start in the regular-season finale, falling 70-51 to Michigan Tech on Saturday in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action in the Upper Peninsula.
The Huskies scored 13 of the first 14 points in the game and the Lakers didn't make their first field goal until Aubrey Leonard hit a 3-pointer nearly four minutes into the game. Roosevelt (8-19, 7-13 GLIAC) held its own after the tough start, playing Michigan Tech even until the fourth quarter.
Kelly Boyle knocked down a triple early in the second quarter that trimmed the Roosevelt deficit to six points. However, that was as close as the Lakers would get the rest of the way despite making nine 3-pointers in the game.
Isabella Pitta paced the Lakers with 12 points and Boyle added 10 while Isabel Lindo and Leonard both chipped in six points. Marie Outlay did a lot of everything per usual, finishing with eight points, four assists, four steals, five blocks and six rebounds.
UP NEXT: The Lakers will head to Detroit on Wednesday for their GLIAC Quarterfinals game against second-seeded Wayne State.
