Volleyball Salutes Cooper On Senior Day; Cooper Lifts Lakers Past Indiana Northwest

Box Score

CHICAGO – Makenzie Cooper's Senior Day was one to remember, as the graduating veteran led all players with 16 kills and 12 digs in her final home collegiate performance to key the Roosevelt volleyball team's fourth consecutive win, a 25-21, 22-25, 26-24, 25-21 four-set decision over Indiana Northwest at the Goodman Center on Saturday.

The Lakers (12-16, 7-9 CCAC) exacted payback on the RedHawks (14-8, 9-7 CCAC) for a four-set September loss in Gary behind the stellar play of Cooper, who chipped in her 12th double-double of the fall after being honored as the team's lone senior before the match.

Kendra Lee double-dipped as well, registering 10 kills and 11 digs, while Sydney Mishler turned in 12 kills.

Mallory Nickelson handed out 55 assists, helping the Lakers hit .252 and outlast a tough IUN side that hit .244 in a back-and-forth affair that saw Roosevelt continue its late-season trend of delivering key plays to pull out close decisions in sets and matches.

Second-year standouts Kara Sleeper and Daphyne Turner had nine kills and three block assists each.

Roosevelt will look to improve its chances for a CCAC Tournament bid next with its final two regular season matches, beginning Tuesday at league-leading Trinity Christian.
