Volleyball Haunts St. Ambrose To Secure Halloween Victory In Four Sets

Box Score

CHICAGO - Kendra Lee and Kara Sleeper had double-digit kills to pace a balanced attack, and the Roosevelt volleyball team outlasted visiting St. Ambrose in three close sets to take a 25-22, 25-23, 16-25, 25-22 home Halloween win at the Goodman Center.

Lee, cleared to return to the attack after rehabbing from injury, led the Lakers (11-16, 6-9 CCAC) with 12 kills to go with eight digs, while Sleeper had another efficient night with 10 kills and a block.

Amy Stumpf turned in another awesome all-around performance with nine kills, eight digs and three block assists, while Makenzie Cooper had seven kills and six digs.

Paula Gross led all players with 19 digs, and Mallory Nickelson dished out 36 assists.

Jill Kavalauskas and Jenny Koerner led all players with identical 14-kill nights for the Bees (7-21, 6-9 CCAC).

Roosevelt's resolve was on display in getting key points in crunch time, as the Lakers lured in late decisions in the first two sets.

St. Ambrose fought back and took set three to force a fourth frame, and after the Bees went ahead early, the Lakers locked in and gutted out the final closely-contested stages to hold off the guests.

Roosevelt closes out the regular season home slate with a 1pm match this Saturday, Nov. 2 against Indiana Northwest. Senior Day festivities honoring Cooper will take place prior to the contest's start.
