UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. – Makenzie Cooper continued her scorching-hot senior season with a match-high 16 kills, leading the Roosevelt volleyball team to a 25-22, 25-11, 25-16 sweep of host Governors State on Tuesday night.
Mallory Nickelson dished out 32 assists, Kara Sleeper added six mistake-free kills to go with five blocks, and Mackenzie Bell had a strong all-around showing of eight kills, nine digs, four blocks and four assists for the Lakers (11-16, 6-9 CCAC).
Kendra Lee led all players with a uniform-matching 10 digs.
Lana Vujosevic led Governors State (9-23, 4-12 CCAC) with nine kills and nine digs.
Roosevelt secured the season sweep of the Jaguars with more efficient hitting, an aspect that has become more frequent for the Lakers in the late stages of the 2019 regular season campaign. The Lakers hit .295 for the match, highlighted by an eye-popping .522 clip (13 kills and one error on 23 attacks) in the second set.
The Lakers host St. Ambrose on Halloween night this Thursday at 7 p.m. inside the Goodman Center.
