PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Roosevelt volleyball team began its weekend at the annual Saint Xavier-Trinity Christian Crossover on Friday, tangling with 11th-ranked Midland (Neb.) and Mount Mercy (Iowa) at TCC's court.
Roosevelt (0-3) fought Midland (4-1) to a three-point first set before falling in the next two frames, suffering a 25-22, 25-10, 25-14 defeat at the hands of the Warriors in the opener of the afternoon.
The Lakers then battled the Mustangs of Mount Mercy, falling 25-15, 25-23, 25-14, in Friday's finale.
Jessica Ratajczak posted a match-high 10 kills against Midland, while Daria Voronina led the Lakers with six kills versus MMU.
Ratajczak also had 12 digs against the Warriors.
Mackenzie Bell led the Lakers in assists in both matches, posting 14 helpers in the first contest and 12 in the nightcap.
Roosevelt will look to rebound on Saturday against Bethel (Ind.) and Marian (Ind.) in Palos.
