ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - Brooke Lee's 21 kills led all hitters as the Roosevelt volleyball team outlasted host Robert Morris Illinois in five sets, 18-25, 25-12, 17-25, 15-7, at the RMU ACC on Thursday night.
Lee hit at a clip of .372, committing just five errors in 43 attack attempts, to pace the Lakers (7-11, 5-6 CCAC) to victory.
Abby Petroelje posted 11 kills while Mackenzie Bell (20) and Mallory Nickelson (18) continued to tag team at the setter position and combine for 38 assists.
Madison Dunbar's 13 digs and Casadi Brendemuehl's 11 digs paced the Lakers' defensive efforts.
Kailyn Williams led RMU (7-11, 3-7) with 12 kills.
The teams traded sets as RMU won the opener and the third frame, while Roosevelt captured set two and forced a decisive fifth set by hanging on to a fourth-set lead for the decision.
In the fifth, Roosevelt rattled off nine consecutive points to turn a two-point deficit into a seven-point lead that proved too much for the Eagles. Lee accounted for five of those points during that match-deciding span with kills.
The Lakers head to the Crimson Wave Invitational hosted by Calumet St. Joseph this Friday and Saturday in Whiting, Ind.
