Williford, Jordan Saluted On Senior Day; Women's Basketball Falls To No. 1 Saint Xavier

CHICAGO – The Roosevelt women's basketball team celebrated the decorated careers of four-year standouts Becky Williford and Erica Jordan prior to the Lakers' game against top-ranked Saint Xavier at the Goodman Center on Saturday, as head coach Keisha Newell and Roosevelt Athletics saluted a duo that has played the game together since the third grade.

Williford, the Lakers' all-time leader in every assist category and a 1,000-point scorer, and Jordan, one of Roosevelt's top rebounders of all-time, were honored for their immense contributions to campus. Such contributions also include two trips to the NAIA National Championship, highlighted by a 2013 Sweet 16 run, and Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles in 2012-13 that secured the athletic department's first-ever CCAC championships in any sport.

Unfortunately Saturday's contest didn't send the seniors off their home court in a winning way, as the nation's No. 1 team proved too much in a 90-48 loss.

The Lakers (15-14, 7-11 CCAC) mustered just three points in the first quarter and missed 18 straight shots at one point during the first half against the Cougars (27-1, 16-1 CCAC), who connected on 55 percent of their shots for the game to take full advantage of the Green and White's woes from the floor.

Paige Gallimore led the Lakers with a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds.

Sophomore center Jasmine Kyler added a pre-halftime highlight, as she swished a deep three to beat the second quarter buzzer for the first trey of her career.

There wasn't much else that went right for Roosevelt, as Kara Krolicki (game-high 24 points on five 3s) and the visiting Cougars jumped out to a quick and plentiful lead against a shorthanded Lakers side.

The Lakers cap the regular season on the road against Judson this Wednesday, Feb. 17 in Elgin.
