Volleyball Opens Home Schedule On Thursday Night Versus Moody Bible

Chicago, Ill. - The Roosevelt volleyball team opens its 2011 home schedule on Thursday night, welcoming Moody Bible to UIC's Physical Education Building at 7:00 p.m. The Lakers enter the match with a record of 1-7 while the Archers are 7-2 this season.

Roosevelt is coming off a heartbreaking five-set loss on Tuesday night in its CCAC lid-lifter at Judson. Moody Bible, meanwhile, has won its last three matches, including a sweep of its two contests over the weekend at the Northland International Tri-Match.

The Archers are 2-0 against CCAC schools this year, having topped both Purdue Calumet and Purdue North Central in five-set matches. Moody Bible dropped a straight-set decision to IU South Bend back on Sept. 3.

Freshman Vanessa Owusu paces the Lakers attack. The rookie owns a team-best 71 kills, 25 blocks and nine service aces, while also totaling 68 digs. Junior Jessica Patterson boasts 61 kills. Newcomer Nicole Winter tops Roosevelt with 99 digs, one better than rookie Sydney Spicer.

UIC's Physical Education Building, the home for Roosevelt volleyball this season, is located at 901 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Chicago. Tickets are $5 with students, faculty and staff admitted free with a valid Roosevelt ID.
