Wolves Whitewash Volleyball In CCAC Clash

Chicago, Ill. - Cardinal Stritch played Homecoming spoiler on Thursday night, sweeping the Roosevelt volleyball team 25-19, 25-16, 25-17 in front of a boisterous crowd at the UIC Physical Education Building.

The contest was the culmination of Homecoming week on the Roosevelt campus and generated the largest crowd of the season for the Lakers. The Wolves never let the crowd get into the game, though, taking control with a decisive five-point run midway through the opening set that broke open the match. Roosevelt (3-20, 1-5) never led in the second set and then watched an early lead vanish in the third set as Cardinal Stritch (16-9, 6-2) closed out the match.
Sophomore Caylee Kuchenbecker and junior Jessica Patterson each totaled six kills to lead the Lakers, Freshman Vanessa Owusu added five kills and three blocks. Freshman Olivia Downs tallied at team-high nine digs.
Anna Flock paced the Wolves with seven kills and seven digs.
Roosevelt will be back in action tomorrow night as they travel to take on Trinity International in a league match at 7:00 p.m.
