NASHPORT, Ohio – Roosevelt could not sustain the momentum of a strong start, finishing in a tie for 11th at the Crossroads Cup hosted by Ashland at The Virtues Golf Club in Ohio.
In Monday's opening round, Lucas Faubert played steady golf to start the day by carding eight straight pars before a birdie on the par-5 7th. Marc Waller made three birdies in a six-hole stretch to cancel out a 3-over start while Matthew Webb also was even par through 16 holes. All three, however, struggled over the final few holes as Waller finished at 2-over, Webb at 3-over and Faubert at 5-over for the first 18 holes.
Pierre Heylen came out Monday afternoon with two birdies in his first three holes and was 1-under through 14 holes before settling for a 2-over 74. Webb shot 3-over again in the afternoon to lead the Lakers along with Waller at 6-over for the 36 holes.
Heylen was also Roosevelt's best player Tuesday with an even-par 72 in the final round, which featured seven birdies. The junior from France finished as the Lakers' highest-placed finisher in 22nd position at 9-over for the event followed by Waller, who finished at 12-over in a tie for 28th. Â
