Lakers Finish Marathon Ken Partridge In 18th

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After two marathon days of golf, Roosevelt finished in 18th place at the Ken Partridge Invitational hosted by the University of Indianapolis at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind. on Sunday and Monday.

Due to weather concerns on Tuesday, the tournament was shortened to two 27-hole days for the teams. Marc Waller started the event strong for the Lakers on Sunday with an even-par 72 in the opening round, highlighted by four birdies. Pierre Heylen made six birdies in the first round, but finished with a 75 as the next best Roosevelt player on the course.

Ben Jones surged to start his final nine holes of Sunday with four birdies in his first seven holes and finished the day 2-under for the second round. The freshman would go on to be the Lakers' low score of the round with a 74, two shots better than Lucas Faubert and Matthew Webb.

Heylen put up the fireworks in the final round Monday with a pair of eagles highlighting his card as he shot a 74. The Frenchman finished a team-best 63rd in the tournament with a 15-over overall, one shot better than Waller in 73rd place. Faubert shot a 76 in the third round to finish 84th while Jones snuck inside the top-100 with a 97th-place finish at 21-over for the event.

The Lakers now turn their attention to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships April 17-19 at Bedford Valley GC in Michigan.
