PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – Roosevelt began its spring season Monday and Tuesday at the Pawleys Island Beach Bash hosted by Ohio Dominican in South Carolina.
The Lakers found themselves in the top half of the field after Monday's round with Ben Jones leading the team in 25th place. The freshman carded a 5-over 77 on Monday with 14 pars while Jamie Garnett and Pierre Heylen were both one stroke behind Jones.
It was a tougher day Tuesday for Roosevelt, which fell to 12th place with just a pair of top-40 finishers. Garnett closed with a 2-under 34 on the back nine Tuesday with three birdies to finish at 12-over for the tournament and 32nd place overall. Jones made a pair of birdies on the back nine as well and finished 38th at 13-over.
Lucas Faubert shot consecutive 80s to finish at 16-over for 53rd place while Heylen struggled Tuesday and fell to 75th position. Marc Waller shot an even par 36 on the back nine Monday and finished the tournament in 102nd place, just a shot behind Matthew Webb in 100th.
UP NEXT: The Lakers head to Murray, Kentucky next Monday and Tuesday for the Dragon Spring Invitational hosted by Tiffin at Miller Memorial Golf Club.
