ROOSEVELT WEEK AHEAD: January 5-11

CHICAGO – Here's a look at the week ahead in Roosevelt Athletics.

Women's Basketball

The Roosevelt women's basketball team will have its first two home games of 2026 as two GLIAC foes come to the Goodman Center. The action begins Thursday at 5:30 p.m. when the Lakers (2-9, 1-3 GLIAC) take on Saginaw Valley State (4-8, 2-2 GLIAC). The Cardinals are averaging just 59.7 points per game, but are coming off a season-high 91 points in a win against Purdue Northwest last Sunday. On Saturday, it's a battle of the Lakers as Roosevelt faces Lake Superior State (3-9, 0-4 GLIAC) at 1:00 p.m. Lake Superior State is led by senior forward Grace Bradford, who is averaging a double-double with 14.8 points per game and 11.4 rebounds per game.

Men's Basketball

The Roosevelt men's basketball team will play the second game of the two basketball doubleheaders this week. Thursday, the men also face Saginaw Valley State (8-4, 2-2 GLIAC) with tipoff schedule for 7:30 p.m. The Lakers (1-10, 0-4 GLIAC) will be looking for their first conference win of the season and will have to slow down a quality Cardinals offense that averages 77.3 points per game and shoots 44.9 percent from the field. Then Saturday at 3:00 p.m., Roosevelt will match up with the Lakers of Lake Superior State (7-6, 1-3 GLIAC). LSSU boasts a top 25 scoring offense nationally, averaging 88.8 points per game and shooting a scorching 47.9 percent from the field. Sophomore forwards Omar Suleiman and Harrison Sorrelle lead the Lakers in scoring, averaging 17.1 and 15 points per game, respectively. 

Hockey

The Roosevelt hockey team is back in action for the first time in over a month this week, taking on Northern Illinois (17-10-0) at home on Friday at 6:50 p.m. The Lakers (5-14-0) will then head to DeKalb, Ill. for another game against Northern Illinois on Saturday at 5:20 p.m. Roosevelt is looking to snap an eight-game losing streak in the new year.

Bowling

The Roosevelt bowling team will be in Addison, Ill. for the Storm Eagle Baker Challenge on Saturday and Sunday. It will be the first action for the bowling team in over a month.
