CHICAGO – Here's a look at the week ahead in Roosevelt Athletics.
Women's Basketball
The Roosevelt women's basketball team will be back at home this week with two GLIAC opponents making the trip to Chicago from Michigan. On Thursday, the Lakers (4-11, 3-5 GLIAC) will face Davenport (4-12, 2-6 GLIAC) at 5:30 p.m. at the Goodman Center. The Panthers employ a balanced scoring attack, with six players averaging more than 5.5 points per game. On Saturday, Roosevelt will battle No. 1 Grand Valley State (15-0, 7-0 GLIAC) at 1 p.m., the second straight year the Lakers visit as the top team in the country. The defending national champions average 81.9 points per game, eighth-best in the country, and allow just 52.6 points per game, eighth-fewest in the country.

Men's Basketball
The Roosevelt men's basketball team will also face Davenport and Grand Valley State this week. The Lakers (2-13, 1-7 GLIAC) will be looking for Mikey West to continue his high-scoring outbursts as the senior guard averaged 26 points and three assists per game across two contests last week. The Panthers (9-7, 3-5 GLIAC) arrive Thursday at 7:30 p.m. led by junior guard Ken Walker, who is averaging 21.5 points per game. Saturday's 3 p.m. matchup with Grand Valley State (12-3, 5-2 GLIAC) will be a challenge as Grand Valley State boasts the 22nd-best scoring defense in the country, allowing just 64.9 points per game, and goes deep into its bench with 10 players averaging more than five points per game.

Men's Volleyball
The Roosevelt men's volleyball team opened up its season last week with two home wins from its first three matches. After falling on the road at No. 9 Lewis, the Lakers took two big matches against Barry in four sets each. Senior Mark Zmojdzin totaled 30 kills in the two matches with the Buccaneers and is hitting .333 this season. Roosevelt will now head to New York to take on the Manhattan Jaspers (1-2) at 6 p.m. on Friday before making the trip to Hackensack, N.J., to face Farleigh Dickinson (0-0) on Saturday at noon.

Hockey
The Roosevelt hockey team will travel to Allendale, Mich. for two games against Grand Valley State (12-7-1). The two Lakers will meet Friday at 6 p.m. then will face off Saturday at 7 p.m.Â

Track and Field
The Roosevelt track and field programs will have their first meet of 2026 this week as they head to the Gately Center in Chicago to participate in the Aurora Grand Prix on Saturday.
