INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Roosevelt shot under par on Tuesday to rise into 12
th place at the UIndy Invitational hosted by the University of Indianapolis at Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis.
The Lakers shot 2-under as a team in Tuesday's final round behind three players who all were in the red. Roosevelt had one player finish under par in Monday's second round en route to a 4-over score after struggling in Monday morning's opening 18 holes.
Freshman
Ben Jones put up a lot of red in Tuesday's final round with six birdies to finish with a 3-under 69 for his round. Jones also got as low as 3-under in Monday's second round after starting the afternoon with two birdies then adding a birdie on his seventh hole of the day. He finished that round with a 73 after shooting a team-best 74 in the morning.
Jones finished the tournament in 26
th place individually, but two of his other teammates were also under par Tuesday.
Pierre Heylen shook off a poor morning round Monday to shoot an even par 72 in the afternoon before carding a 71 on Tuesday to finish 46
th. The sophomore from France strung together three straight birdies in the second round then played a clean third round Tuesday with two birdies after an opening bogey.
Matthew Webb also shot 71 on Tuesday after some struggles on Monday with scores of 79 and 78. He finished in 70
th place, one shot ahead of teammate
Lucas Faubert, who had the only eagle of the tournament for the Lakers on the 18
th hole in Monday's second round.
Jamie Garnett finished in 60
th place on the back of a 2-under 70 Monday afternoon, a round that included four birdies.
Justin Rodriguez played as an individual in the tournament and placed 81
st.
