CHICAGO – Here's a look at the week ahead in an exciting week of Roosevelt athletics.
Blackout At The Goodman Center
The Roosevelt basketball programs are hosting a Blackout for its first conference game of the season on Thursday against Michigan Tech at 5:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear black to support the Lakers as they start their second foray into the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The first 50 students with ID through the door will also receive a free blackout t-shirt.
Tickets will be on sale at the door and are $10 for fans 13 years or older. Tickets are $5 for fans 12 and younger, high school students with ID, college students with ID, military with ID, and senior citizens. The Roosevelt Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is also sponsoring its annual food drive before games on Thursday and Saturday. Fans who donate two non-perishable food items will receive a discounted $5 ticket to the games. Each adult must donate two items in order to receive the reduced price on their ticket.

Women's Basketball
After defeating Western Michigan in overtime last Tuesday, the Roosevelt women's basketball team will take on two GLIAC opponents this week. The Lakers will face Michigan Tech at 5:30 p.m. in the first game of a basketball doubleheader, as Roosevelt gears up for its first Blackout at the Goodman Center. The Huskies sit at 4-2 on the season, coming off back-to-back losses at No. 17 Concordia-St. Paul and at Winona State. Michigan Tech employs a balanced offensive attack, with five Huskies averaging eight or more points per game. On Saturday, Roosevelt will take on No. 18 Northern Michigan in the first game of another doubleheader. The Wildcats, who sit at 8-1, are led by senior guard Jacy Weisbrod, who is averaging 18.7 points per game.

Men's Basketball
The Lakers men's basketball team aims to pick up its first win of the season, as they will face two GLIAC opponents at the Goodman Center. Roosevelt will battle No. 12 Michigan Tech at 7:30 p.m. in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader. The Huskies come in at 6-1 on the season, and are led by senior guard and reigning GLIAC Player of the Year Marcus Tomashek, who averages 19.5 points and 6 rebounds per game. On Saturday, Roosevelt will take on Northern Michigan at 3:00 pm, concluding the second basketball doubleheader of the week. The 4-1 Wildcats are outscoring opponents by 14.2 points per game and are led by forward Dylan Kuehl, who is averaging 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.

Men's Hockey
The hockey team will face Illinois (13-4-1) on Friday evening in Champaign before returning to the Chicago area to take on the Fighting Illini at The Edge Ice Arena on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Roosevelt, which currently sits at 5-12-0, will be in action for the first time in two weeks, as the Lakers had the Thanksgiving break off. Roosevelt and Illinois have faced twice this season, with the Lakers winning 3-2 in a shootout on October 3rd and the Fighting Illini picking up a 7-4 victory on October 4th.

Men's Bowling
The men's bowling team will be in Addison, Illinois, to participate in the Ebonite Warhawk Open on Saturday, December 6th, and Sunday, December 7th. It will be the first action for the men's bowling team in three weeks, with the Lakers having last bowled on November 15th and 16th at the Boilermaker Classic.

The men's and women's indoor track and field programs will begin their seasons this weekend in Bourbonnais, Illinois to take part in the ONU Holiday Open on Saturday.
