Box Score MARION, Ind. – Marie Outlay recorded her first collegiate double-double despite Roosevelt's 83-60 loss to No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan on Friday night in Marion, Ind.
The freshman from Sun Prairie, Wis opened the scoring with a 3-pointer for the Lakers (0-3) nearly two minutes into the game, and she didn't really slow down. Outlay finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds in the game with much of her offense coming in the first half. The guard scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds in 16 first-half minutes before securing five boards and dishing out three assists in the third quarter.
Roosevelt found ways to hang with the third-ranked Wildcats on their home court for most of the first quarter. Even after surrendering six points in 44 seconds to fall behind late in the first quarter, the Lakers clawed back to within two with 20 seconds left. The Lakers would cut the deficit in the second quarter to as little as four before Indiana Wesleyan closed the half on a 10-2 run.
Kencia Levasseur came off the bench to score 13 points for the Lakers in just 13 minutes of action. The sophomore made 5 of 8 from the field and sank all three free throws and also added two assists and two steals. Outlay led the team in both categories with five helpers and four steals. Kristen Keys scored seven of her 10 points in the third quarter to help try and keep the Lakers in the game, and Grace Beyer scored all eight of her points in the fourth quarter.
The Lakers will stay at Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday for a 2 p.m. neutral-site contest against Rochester to close out a tough week for Roosevelt.
