Box Score 2 DEERFIELD, Ill. – Coming off back-to-back doubleheader sweeps, the Roosevelt Lakers Softball team extended its winning streak to six games with another pair of CCAC wins on Wednesday, April 27. Making up two games that were postponed last week due to weather, the Lakers topped CCAC foe Trinity International 9-3 in game one and 11-2 in the five-inning second contest. The sweep takes the Lakers conference record to 13-8 and their overall record to 20-15 on the year.
The first game started off as a pitchers duel, with Hailey Getz going 1-2-3 in the circle to start the game. After two scoreless innings across the board, the Lakers finally got the scoring started in the top of the third. After Kassie Kawka singled to lead off the inning and Kirstin Fudge was hit by a pitch, reigning CCAC Player of the Week Brynn Dvoracek singled, scoring Kawka and advancing Fudge to third. Destini Nolan followed up with a sacrifice fly to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead. The lead was short lived as the Titans plated three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
The Lakers would not be without the lead for long, scoring four runs on RBIs from Fudge, Anaisa Lozada (2), and Dvoracek to take a 6-3 advantage. Roosevelt did not look back, increasing the margin in the fifth on an RBI triple by Emily Zuniga. With the score 7-3, Destini Nolan added another RBI to her total with a single in the sixth. Ashlyn Kitter rounded out the scoring that same inning with a sacrifice fly to score Dvoracek and give the Lakers a 9-3 game one victory. Dayton Elliott closed the game for the Lakers with three scoreless innings in the circle.
Game two was a dominant affair for the Lakers. Coming off a no-hitter the day before, Kate Sisson was strong once again in the circle, allowing just two runs while pitching a five-inning complete game. The Lakers bats gave her plenty of support to get the win starting with another Dvoracek RBI in the first to score Kawka. The Lakers would add another two runs in the third, seven in the fourth, and one in the fifth, to close out the sweep11-2. In the end, eight different Lakers crossed the plate during game two, including four runs scored from Kassie Kawka. She added two RBIs to lead the team alond with Dvoracek and Nolan.
