RU kept the pressure on the Fighting Bees in the first half but was unable to notch another goal, while St. Ambrose found the equalizer in the 20th minute. In the 31st minute, the Lakers were awarded a penalty kick, but Marbella Rodriguez' shot went over the bar and the score remained 1-1 at the half.
Both teams had their chances in the second half, but it was the Lakers who took advantage when Cerda scored on a free kick from 20 yards out to regain the lead for RU in the 62nd minute. The Lakers backline of Mayeri Diaz, Alexis Gonzalez, Marubeni Nieto, and Julia Szylke had a strong game in front of goalkeeper Gaby Aguinaga-Hernandez, keeping the Fighting Bees off the scoreboard in the second half to preserve the win.
