ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Roosevelt University women's soccer team recorded its second straight CCAC Conference victory with a 2-1 defeat of St. Ambrose University (Iowa) on Wednesday, September 22 at Morris Field.  The Lakers are now 2-1 in the CCAC and 5-3 overall this season.

The Lakers wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Gabi Christidis fired in a 25-yard shot in to the top corner off a pass from Anahi Cerda in the fourth minute for a 1-0 lead.  RU kept the pressure on the Fighting Bees in the first half but was unable to notch another goal, while St. Ambrose found the equalizer in the 20^th minute.  In the 31^st minute, the Lakers were awarded a penalty kick, but Marbella Rodriguez' shot went over the bar and the score remained 1-1 at the half.

Both teams had their chances in the second half, but it was the Lakers who took advantage when Cerda scored on a free kick from 20 yards out to regain the lead for RU in the 62^nd minute.  The Lakers backline of Mayeri Diaz, Alexis Gonzalez, Marubeni Nieto, and Julia Szylke had a strong game in front of goalkeeper Gaby Aguinaga-Hernandez, keeping the Fighting Bees off the scoreboard in the second half to preserve the win.
